Dear Friends,
Thank you for taking this opportunity to access the United Way web site and for coming to the part specifically for the Regional Council for Montgomery County. You will find a great deal of information about the United Way and what we are doing in Montgomery County and across the Region.
The United Way has played a very important role in our community for many years and just how important is demonstrated in times like these when because of the severe economic conditions so many of our friends and neighbors are affected.
In Montgomery County we are fortunate to have a long history of caring and giving that has enable us to provide assistance over the years to so many people who would otherwise have no place to turn. In this past year we were able to make grants totaling over $500,000.00 to over 60 agencies that provide help for housing, child care, elderly care, shelter and many other types of assistance and help.
In Montgomery County there is a group of very dedicated people who serve as volunteers on the Regional Advisory Council to the United Way of the National Capital Area. They come from every part of the community and represent the public, private and not for profit sectors. These are the folks to help with the annual campaign to raise the funds to make the grants and these are the folks to review each grant application to determine who will receive funds and how much they will receive.
If you have specific questions or would like more information on how to make contributions, apply for grants or how you become involved as a volunteer please contact me or any of the staff of the United Way.
Thank You
